INFRASTRUCTURE
Electric Vehicle Charging Points
With the rapid increase in electric vehicles on our roads, car dealerships require high-capacity electric vehicle chargers (EVC’s) at each of their major service centres.
ION Consulting are undertaking electricity infrastructure capacity checks at various UK locations, followed by local infrastructure upgrade projects to supply high-capacity DC and AC chargers to several national car dealerships.
With 150KW to 200KW DC fast charging units, electric vehicles can reach maximum range in less than 40 mins, which is essential when dealerships are undertaking servicing and checks on modern electric vehicles.
It is anticipated that within the next 2-3 years that over 100,000 high capacity chargers will be needed throughout the UK.
Adanac Business Park – Infrastructure Development
ION were engaged by the developer for the design of the utility infrastructure required for the construction of Phase 2 of the development at Adanac Business Park. This comprised two blocks totalling 115,000 sqft plus an additional 20,000 sqft of mezzanine. There was also the potential to develop a plot north of the existing overhead power lines which would add a further 120,000 sqft to the site. All buildings are for light general industrial use.
ION liaised closely with the utility providers and managed the various applications to the DNO. Detailed negotiation with SSEN was required to ascertain that adequate power capacity was available to service the site, plus detailed infrastructure planning was needed to locate new substations, maximising flexibility for the future.
