LEISURE
Solent University Sports Building
New build sports training facility, containing five levels of speciality gyms, two halls, studios and a café. The facility also houses an elite level basketball court with public viewing areas, as well as AV and TV outside broadcast capability.
ION worked 'client side' on this project providing the University with a design guardian role being responsible for quality inspections and taking on the role as commissioning manager.
The project is part of a much larger redevelopment scheme for the whole university campus which ION are currently heavily involved with.
Fareham Live – Theatre and Entertainment Centre
Re-development of Ferneham Hall in Fareham to form a new state-of-the-art, 800 seat performing arts and theatre complex, complete with a new fly tower to suit larger touring shows, plus the provision of a new second theatrical venue for local drama societies. The building also has a dance studio, restaurant and bars, plus associated back of house changing areas and offices.
New M&E services are carefully integrated into this complex shaped building, with extensive power, data, lighting control and theatrical systems necessary to suit modern productions.
Acoustic control of the ventilation systems is critical to achieving quality stage productions. The building also incorporates air source heat pump heating and roof mounted PV arrays to reduce the energy footprint of the building.
Mayesbrook Leisure Centre
New large indoor multi-use sports arena principally designed for Olympic Handball and Basketball in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
This flexible ‘legacy project’ has become a key part of the local landscape for community use. The building encompasses a large span sports arena, changing facilities, state of the art elite athlete's gymnasia, recreational areas and interfaces for live feed TV playout.
ION reduced the energy footprint of the facility by the incorporation of CHP and low energy technologies including solar thermal water heating and PV.
